A few old pics of vehicles past for anyone in to cars.
A dear old friend looking extremely sorry for itself not too long before it's final journey to the great motorway in the sky. This Mk 1 Cortina, my first car, underwent continual change. It ended up lowered, and stiffened and fitted with a MK 2 Cortina GT Crossflow engine bored out to 1760 cc. an oil cooler and a different diff. and back axle. I built a digital speedo/revcounter, the rear seats were from a Rover 2000. It never had the modern tuning idea of fitting a 1000 Watt peak music power amplifier with a boot full of speakers ! You could see quite well in the dark though. It looked magnificent once ! The covered car behind is a kit car called a Charger which, sadly, I never finished despite it getting a space-frame chassis built by an ex-Formula Ford mechanic friend of mine.
Another car undergoing major surgery. A dreaded Beetle, must be one of the worst cars known to man in many ways, certainly I don't remember driving anything with worse handling/brakes/power. I know, loads of people love them and think I'm being blasphemous. As you can see, as well as replacing the floorpan, lowering it and fitting disc brakes, I replaced all the body panels forward of the front bulkhead. No idea why I bothered, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Something more civilised the posy RAV 4 fashion statement and Golf GTI eater. I think the newer ones look just like all the other 4 by 4's.
The present encumbent, well, the runabout anyway. For my sins, the Giaguaro designed Grande Punto in poke-you-in-the-eye red (much to the wife's disgust). OK, not quite the same as the Giaguaro designed Maserati but the diesel multijet 130hp version is ok for running to the shops especially if you get it re-mapped to 170........
